WELCOME!

Since 1984, HELP has provided a safe and caring environment for children with disabilities to experience the joy of horseback riding.

Riding therapy has been utilized by centers throughout the United States for over thirty years. It is a proven method to exercise, mobilize, and motivate the mind and body. It emphasizes the rider's abilities, not disabilities.

HELP's instructors work closely with other professionals and parents to individualize lessons to maximize each rider's abilities. This team effort challenges riders to learn and use horsemanship skills.

Safety is a major concern. Each student is taught by an instructor and aided by leaders and sidewalkers as needed. The horses for this program have been carefully schooled and are exceptionally gentle and loving.

Types of disabilities do not exclude an individual's participation. Currently riders with cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, autism, and visual impairments are experiencing the joy of riding and the warm bond between horse and rider.

HELP's successes are not miracles, but result from the caring and cooperation of many people. Riders, families, volunteers, and sponsors are having amazing results. If you have the time, talent, or treasure to become a part of HELP's team and share in our success, we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you,
The HELP Center Team

Special Olympics

Two of our students, Amy and Angie, participated in the Special Olympics on Saturday, May 21, at the East Williamson Country Arena in Taylor, TX. Riding Phoebe, both riders and horse demonstrated their trail prowess by navigating over bridges, weaving through cones, and opening gates. Coached by our Director of Instruction, Anne Grimma, and led by three of our volunteers -Sheri, Ashleigh, and Darrell - Amy won gold and Angie won bronze out of a field of 17 riders. Congratulations to our outstanding students and many thanks to our coach and volunteers! It was a memorable day for all!

HELP is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization. We serve the Austin area and help children and young adults with disabilities to grow physically, emotionally, and socially through therapeutic riding.
